About Us

Established in 2005 by Maury Johnson, Blue River Hybirds is an independently owned company. Maury developed NC+ Organics in the 1990s as a division of NC+ Hybrids, but left soon after the parent company was sold. Blue River Hybrids independently operates its own organic seed processing facilities and warehouse south of Ames, Iowa.

At Blue River Hybrids our goal is to produce seed that has exceptional value to organic farmers in North America.

To accomplish our goal -

• We increase our field testing of current and future products each year. Blue River Hybrids has replicated and on-farm organic testing locations in 15 state and in Canada .
• We work with organic growers to produce our corn and sudangrass hybrids, and soybean, red clover and alfalfa varieties.
• Blue River Hybrids' plant south of Ames, Iowa is dedicated to conditioning organic seed. Our plant does not handle GMO or conventionally treated seed.
• Our extensive network of dealers and distributors provide sales and service to organic farmers almost everywhere in North America .
